Boat trip on the Uzumacinta river,
the frontier between Guatemala and Mexico - it takes 45 minutes
to get to the ruins, and there's a lot of wildlife ashore
The Yaxchilan ruins are in the
midst of the jungle - some buildings you don't even expect to
be there unless you are 20m away. It was really impressive - the
most beautiful archaeological site I've seen in Mexico!
Above the ruins, monkey swung
around in the trees (left and middle: Spider monkeys, right: Howler
monkey), but we also saw beatiful butterflies, iguanas and a tucan.
